I knew I was home

when I picked up where I left off

a taste of winter in a rain too light

even to be called a drizzle

the fire competing with the book

the morning coffee

always

silence in the neighborhood

no busy bees about their daily tasks

that can’t be done without

the roar of motors

no pressing needs

just the space and time

to contemplate

in the cool inviting morning air
